The house · c. 1790 / 2024

A house that was already finished.

We did not design Casa Vela. We cleaned it, repaired it and decided what to leave alone.

Stone Suite

The Stone Suite sits in what used to be the cistern. Its vault is 4.6 metres to the crown and its walls keep the room at 22 degrees all summer.

We cooled the house by building it properly in the first place. There is no air conditioning anywhere. Shutters, cross draughts and mass do the work, and a quiet fan is in every room for the two worst weeks of August.
